Reality Show Contestants Breaking Into Mainstream Music

Leah Labelle - American Idol Season 3

"Call me, maybe?" Asks Canadian Idol top three finalist, Carly Rae Jepsen. The 26-year-old British Columbia Native crossed over to the U.S. airwaves and made history when it hit the top of the digital charts making her the second Canadian artist since Justin Beiber's "Baby" reached the top spot back in January 2010. More reality show contestants, however, are breaking out in the mainstream space which may cause Carly Rae to put her phone on silent. American Idol Season three contestant, Leah Labelle, who finished 12th place has transformed from a YouTube sensation to a breakout R&B artist discovered by Jermaine Dupri and Pharrell Williams. Labelle, who is currently signed by L.A. Reid with Epic Records, released her lead single "Sexify" in March 2012 and peaked at #91 on the R&B Billboard Charts.
Cher Lloyd - X Factor U.K. Season 7

Another reality show contestant, Cher Lloyd, who finished fourth on X Factor U.K., is finding much success after also being signed by L.A. Reid to join Epic Records. Her third single, "Want You Back", which was released February 2012 in the U.K., has found it's way to the United States and her presence in pop music is expected to grow. Will these reality show born artists reach the success of other reality show contestants like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, and Daughtry? You be the judge.
